The first being the Audionauts gig at Punggol Park and the second, Zerosequence at the Esplanade.

Albeit having to play at a park that couldn't hold more than 100 people, Audionauts did really well to entertain and amuse. (No.. not because it was a comedy show but the fact that they had to take 2 minute breaks in between songs) The songs were great, musicians technically proficient.. no brilliant and repertoire was a good mix of covers and originals. I am so looking forward to their album launch!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_3kQ5I44Q2mI/RipQ14woyeI/AAAAAAAAAAU/Ib3shbj2PHU/s320/TRN_2423.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5055942418376477154" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_3kQ5I44Q2mI/RipRr4woyfI/AAAAAAAAAAc/SI0piKI6ypg/s320/TRN_2439.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5055943346089413106" />

Zerosequence... what can I say? Simply fantastic. I felt like I was watching an international act. It was great hearing them after such a long time but their development and maturity really floored me. The fact that they played my favourite song (Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen) only made the show even sweeter. Even their guest performers - Mathilda (of Singapore Idol) and Mang were fantastic and only made the performance all the more entertaining. But my favourite song was the instrumental composed by Ezal (Excellent Keyboardist). Again, I can't wait for their album to launch.

These 2 bands only serve to emphasise what I've been saying all along... that Singapore does have great bands. It's such a shame that they don't get the recognition they deserve. Instead, we keep hearing mediocre bands and people lamenting the fact that Singaporeans aren't creative or talented. Well, go check out the next round of shows at the Esplanade and you'll be amazed at the quality.

And fear not... I'll try to keep you updated on these album launches that I'm so eagerly anticipating!

What We Can't Live Without

All of us have our little things that just make our day. Then again, all of us also have some other little things that we just can't seem to go without. Whether its a Coke Light, Star Wars, Cigarettes, Chocolates, Final Fantasy, Toys, Shoes, Bags, Iced Coffee or that Chicken Rice at Simpang, we all have our addictions. The only question is whether we admit that we have an addiction or not.

More often than not, people always refer to addictions as vices. It's always something bad. Hence, the sayings and idioms - Always in moderation, Too much of a good thing etc. And I guess to a certain extent, it's probably true. Indulging in our addictions often leave us with a hole in our pockets or is just bad for our health.

However, now that I'm on a pseudo-break and have some time to think about "the facts of life" (heh!) I find that the most difficult thing about addictions is that although we enjoy them, we often can't do it without feeling guily. I mean not many of us would dare eat ice-cream everyday without feeling the need to exercise the next day. And how many times have you heard "I really shouldn't" or "This is the last one"? Why should we limit ourselves?

So my friends, indulge yourselves and enjoy! I say - go on and relish your addiction guilt-free. I mean you can always recover from it the next day, God-willing. But if I pass on tomorrow, at least I'll go knowing that I spent my last day smoking, eating Pods and watching re-runs of CSI!

Grey-Tinted Glasses

When I first started this blog, I promised myself that I wouldn't rave and rant. I can do that everyday and anywhere. I wanted this to be more meaningful and to kind of sort my thoughts out. So, I apologise for my previous entry (although it did make me feel much better) and hope that this one's more useful.

In my cynical and jaded world, I realise that I no longer look at the world through rose-tinted glasses. I am no longer optimistic, just realistic and practical and in Singapore, this means just planning for the worst-case scenarios. It's sad whenever I remind myself that I haven't lived long enough to feel this way and I do wonder sometimes how I actually turned out so pessimistic so soon.

But a wise man once said, "Do not ponder the hows and whys; Find solutions instead." This was further enhanced when I came across this super-positive site that can actually make the more cynical stomachs turn.

However, I shall still risk your wrath and share it with you. Its 3 Beautiful Things (http://threebeautifulthings.blogspot.com) I do advise that you check it out on a better day though.

So I have decided to take a positive step, spin what I just read and do what I used to do when I was younger. I am going to state 3 things that I am thankful for today and share my gratitude with my loved ones:

1. My hubby for his unwavering patience, when I'm cranky and snappish and for his allowing me to make my own mistakes and tolerating my stupid stubborness

2. My lovely, lovely frens for always giving me nice surprises (like the lovely pressies I got), making me laugh (thanks Tre) and just for listening to me bitch (to the whole group at Simps - You know who you are).

3. Oh..... and Simps for the super, yummy Ox-tail Soup that I had this morning. It just got my day started on the right foot. (Until I decided to go back to sleep and overslept)

So there! Am I saved yet?

What the FARK!!!

oh...oh.. stupid stupid people!! I know that most people would agree with me. If you're one of the few who don't, then you should go get a life.

Most of the time, we try to juggle work and play. I mean we all know that we need time to destress and relax but how much is too much?

What about those people who need to handle their own life vs their family life? Which is more important? You certainly can't function without either one.

So I have decided to.... just live my life. Slack off whenever I want to and when I start feeling guilty than that's my cue to get back to work. And when I start getting angry at work, then I know it's time for me to take a break.

But don't worry, I'll always have time for all of you!! (And no dear.... I am not referring to The Cat) We usually get by in life by ignoring them or cutting them put of our lives completely. However, there are 3 groups of people that we have no choice but to keep in our lives even though talking to them sometimes makes you feel like pulling ALL your hair (and I mean ALL) out.

The first group of people are our families. We always here the phrase that you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family. Even worse than the nagging mother is the the matriach in the family. I know because I have one in mine. (I'm writtinig this assuming that she'll never read this. I will deny all if this is ever mentioned in her presence and this article will self-destruct should she perchance on this blog) The most infuriating thing about her is that she insists on putting her foot in anything and everything. Yup, she's cool and all, especially to other people who need a listening ear but to live up to her expectations and needs is a different matter altogether.Yes, Of course, she's experienced and all but sometimes she gets carried away with the image that the family SHOULD portray that she forgets the important things that SHOULD matter!

The next group of people that I believe most are familiar with are "friends" who just manage to not-humour-us anymore. You know who I'm talking about: the ones whom you thought to be oh-so-hilarious in the past or just brushed aside their idiosyncracies as cute and funny but now that you've known them for years, you realise that everything they say and do just makes you cringe and all those around you peeved. They just choose to act or speak before thinking and insult or annoy everyone else in the process. And I know what you're thinking, why not just cut them out of your lives? Well, usually there are 2 reasons why not:

1. Sentimentality or Pity. They've either just been in your lives for far too long and the friendship boils down more to familiarity than want. Or they have no other friends and being the kind-hearted fools that we are we take them in.

2. They're partners of your good friends and it would just be rude.

OK. The final group of people would be your co-workers. You have to work with them, can't tell them off and can't just cut them out of your lives. And no... they usually don't get your hints for them to fuck off.

So there, my annoyances for the day! It's OVER!!! For those of you who watched the World Cup on Monday morning and secretly hoped that France would win simply because you didn't want Italy to win, I feel the same way you do. Am still in mourning and suffering from World Cup Hangover cos' haven't had enough sleep and haven't adjusted to the non-world cup timings. Sigh.

Most of the people I talk to agree that it's been quite a boring World Cup and I wonder why it's been so. Me being the typically analytical person have narrowed it down to the following reasons:
1. Brazil, Holland, England (because of the EPL and also to have an opportunity to laugh at Crouch) didn't even enter the semi-finals
2. No dark horses in the quarters so became quite bo-ring
3. Most games ended in a penalty shoot-out... which made the matches long, draggy and unfair sometimes.
4. Controversial referees
5. Nonsense timing of games (haha .... getting a bit personal)
6. Germany.... most likely tipped to win didn't make it to the finals.

All in all, I think regardless of the controversies and unhappiness it generated (due to ppl losing tons of money) it was something most of us couldn't give up... it only happens once every 4 years and you do get to see most of the world class players at one go. A month of soccer and everything else stops.... the shopping, movies, work, sleep

So... 2 days down, about another 700 days to Euro and 1430 days to World Cup 2010. Anyone betting on Singapore??

Sleepy Weepy

It's 3.30 in the morning. I thought I would get some tips from him.... so that I can advise Koby [Don't be sad, Koby.... We all feel for you and your loss.. )-: ] Until I learnt that... he bet on 0, 1, 2 goals for the game. I mean....Isn't that obvious??? It's the semi-finals! What do you expect 4-0?? Only Faries would bet that!
