The End of the World Cup

I can't believe it!! It's OVER!!! For those of you who watched the World Cup on Monday morning and secretly hoped that France would win simply because you didn't want Italy to win, I feel the same way you do. Am still in mourning and suffering from World Cup Hangover cos' haven't had enough sleep and haven't adjusted to the non-world cup timings. Sigh.

Most of the people I talk to agree that it's been quite a boring World Cup and I wonder why it's been so. Me being the typically analytical person have narrowed it down to the following reasons:
1. Brazil, Holland, England (because of the EPL and also to have an opportunity to laugh at Crouch) didn't even enter the semi-finals
2. No dark horses in the quarters so became quite bo-ring
3. Most games ended in a penalty shoot-out... which made the matches long, draggy and unfair sometimes.
4. Controversial referees
5. Nonsense timing of games (haha .... getting a bit personal)
6. Germany.... most likely tipped to win didn't make it to the finals.

All in all, I think regardless of the controversies and unhappiness it generated (due to ppl losing tons of money) it was something most of us couldn't give up... it only happens once every 4 years and you do get to see most of the world class players at one go. A month of soccer and everything else stops.... the shopping, movies, work, sleep

So... 2 days down, about another 700 days to Euro and 1430 days to World Cup 2010. Anyone betting on Singapore??
