Not So Petty Annoyances
"Well if that is what you think," the Mad Hatter spoke furiously.
"But I don't think-" Alice began
"Then you shouldn't speak!"
~Lewis Carrol
I know that we all know that there people whose sole purpose in life is to annoy you. (And no dear.... I am not referring to The Cat) We usually get by in life by ignoring them or cutting them put of our lives completely. However, there are 3 groups of people that we have no choice but to keep in our lives even though talking to them sometimes makes you feel like pulling ALL your hair (and I mean ALL) out.
The first group of people are our families. We always here the phrase that you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family. Even worse than the nagging mother is the the matriach in the family. I know because I have one in mine. (I'm writtinig this assuming that she'll never read this. I will deny all if this is ever mentioned in her presence and this article will self-destruct should she perchance on this blog) The most infuriating thing about her is that she insists on putting her foot in anything and everything. Yup, she's cool and all, especially to other people who need a listening ear but to live up to her expectations and needs is a different matter altogether.Yes, Of course, she's experienced and all but sometimes she gets carried away with the image that the family SHOULD portray that she forgets the important things that SHOULD matter!
The next group of people that I believe most are familiar with are "friends" who just manage to not-humour-us anymore. You know who I'm talking about: the ones whom you thought to be oh-so-hilarious in the past or just brushed aside their idiosyncracies as cute and funny but now that you've known them for years, you realise that everything they say and do just makes you cringe and all those around you peeved. They just choose to act or speak before thinking and insult or annoy everyone else in the process. And I know what you're thinking, why not just cut them out of your lives? Well, usually there are 2 reasons why not:
1. Sentimentality or Pity. They've either just been in your lives for far too long and the friendship boils down more to familiarity than want. Or they have no other friends and being the kind-hearted fools that we are we take them in.
2. They're partners of your good friends and it would just be rude.
OK. The final group of people would be your co-workers. You have to work with them, can't tell them off and can't just cut them out of your lives. And no... they usually don't get your hints for them to fuck off.
So there, my annoyances for the day! I hope you're having a better time than me. *sigh*
