The Greatest Shows of 2007 ... so far

I've had the pleasure of witnessing the best shows of 2007 recently. The first being the Audionauts gig at Punggol Park and the second, Zerosequence at the Esplanade.

Albeit having to play at a park that couldn't hold more than 100 people, Audionauts did really well to entertain and amuse. (No.. not because it was a comedy show but the fact that they had to take 2 minute breaks in between songs) The songs were great, musicians technically proficient.. no brilliant and repertoire was a good mix of covers and originals. I am so looking forward to their album launch!

Zerosequence... what can I say? Simply fantastic. I felt like I was watching an international act. It was great hearing them after such a long time but their development and maturity really floored me. The fact that they played my favourite song (Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen) only made the show even sweeter. Even their guest performers - Mathilda (of Singapore Idol) and Mang were fantastic and only made the performance all the more entertaining. But my favourite song was the instrumental composed by Ezal (Excellent Keyboardist). Again, I can't wait for their album to launch.

These 2 bands only serve to emphasise what I've been saying all along... that Singapore does have great bands. It's such a shame that they don't get the recognition they deserve. Instead, we keep hearing mediocre bands and people lamenting the fact that Singaporeans aren't creative or talented. Well, go check out the next round of shows at the Esplanade and you'll be amazed at the quality.

And fear not... I'll try to keep you updated on these album launches that I'm so eagerly anticipating!
